It was a competitive weekend for Stephenville High athletes, who hosted the 2013 provincial high school cross-country ski championships at Whaleback Nordic Ski Club last weekend.
Jesse Byrne won first place in the junior boys 4.6-kilometre race with a time of 16:51.2, while John St. Croix placed third with a finish of 18:14.1.
Hannah Blundon finished third in the junior girls 2.4-kilometre race with a time of 11:18.9.
Jesse Byrne, Jacob Byrne and John St. Croix competed together in the junior boys relay, finishing first with a time of 11:09.2.
The team comprised of Hannah Blundon, Stephanie Budden and Claire St. Croix scored second place in the junior girls relay with a time of 15:39.5.
Sabrina Muise, Marigold Benoit and Rita Jane St. Croix passed the finish line first in the senior girls relay with a time of 11:23.1.
Andrew Patten, Colby Chaisson and Stephen Eckert placed third in the senior boys relay race.
When the team results were calculated, Stephenville High placed second in the junior girls division; first in the junior boys; second in the senior girls and third in senior boys.
