The Newfoundland and Labrador Youth Dart team recently returned from Quebec where they took part in the Canadian Youth Dart Championships.

Robin Barnes from Heatherton placed first in the World Masters qualifier. Along with Trevor Hovey of Alberta, she will represent Canada at the Youth World Masters in Briglinton, England from Sept. 4 to 6. Robin is the first female youth dart player from this province to win in the 23-year history of the event.

The Newfoundland and Labrador Youth Dart team recently returned from Quebec where they took part in the Canadian Youth Dart Championships.

Robin Barnes from Heatherton placed first in the World Masters qualifier. Along with Trevor Hovey of Alberta, she will represent Canada at the Youth World Masters in Briglinton, England from Sept. 4 to 6. Robin is the first female youth dart player from this province to win in the 23-year history of the event.

Robin and Samantha MacNeil from Flat Bay won bronze in the junior girls doubles; Samantha won another bronze in junior girls singles; and Jordan Bennett from Stephenville Crossing and Jeremy Miller from Marystown won bronze in senior boys doubles. Robin and Jeremy made it to the medal round, only to fall short in the quarter-finals.

The other members of the team were Brandon Ploughman from Flat Bay; Brandon Gillam from Heatherton; Stephanie Noseworthy from Robinsons; and Jasmine Gale from Robinsons. They all played extremely well and only narrowly missed the medal rounds.

In team competition, the Newfoundland team won silver by beating Alberta in the preliminary round and British Columbia in the semi-finals, before losing to New Brunswick in the championship game.
