Stephenville minor soccer president Joe Young says the local soccer program will need more volunteers this year to deliver the same high-quality level of training to area youth.

Mr. Young says the local association has held several meetings over the last year - intended to bring in new volunteers - but the meetings were poorly attended.

"We are in need of more volunteers at every level," he says. "For minor soccer to continue we need an infusion of new ideas and support which can only come from more people getting involved."

Mr. Young says in the past, many of the group's volunteers have been parents of participants. As those children age through the program and move on, so do a lot of volunteers.

"We really require more people, and it's not a big commitment," says Mr. Young. "We hire students and everything. It's just a matter of getting more bodies involved."

Stephenville Minor Soccer will hold its annual general meeting on May 20 at 7:30 p.m., College of the North Atlantic, DSB Fowlow Building in room 132.

"Minor soccer in Stephenville has been around many years and has been delivered to our children at a high level," says Mr. Young. "Keep this vibrant and active program going in Stephenville by attending the meeting."
