In recognition of their ongoing support, members of the Bay St. George Snowmobile Association presented a plaque to College of the North Atlantics Heavy Equipment Program instructors and students last week.
Association member Sandy Archibald said over the past couple of years, his group has worked with the college and the Town of Stephenville to develop a racetrack on Minnesota Dr., across from the Sir Thomas Roddick hospital.
He said the heavy equipment staff and students in particular have greatly aided in making the racetrack a reality, as the association didnt have the funds or resources to do it on their own.
Brian Foley, a campus administrator, said the staff and students were glad to help the community and that the project helped the students to see the fruits of their labour.
Mr. Archibald noted the racetrack attracts people from all over and outside of the Bay St. George area and could become a noteworthy tourist attraction in the years ahead.
