As most of you know, the Georgian's Viewpoint page is a place to air out an assortment of perspectives on any number of topics. Here you'll find thoughts and opinions from yours truly, the editor; various columnists, such as Peter Pickersgill; and of course, you, the reader.
We always welcome your letters. Actually, we encourage them. Taking the time to let us and others know what's on your mind is a positive move towards keeping the lines of communication open throughout the Bay St. George area.
There are a few things to keep in mind before putting pen to paper, or fingers on the keyboard. All letters submitted must include the writer's name, address and telephone number. This information is required for verification purposes.
While the address and telephone number won't be printed in the paper, the writer's name will appear at the bottom of the letter. And no nom de plume or alias, please provide your real name. Unsigned letters cannot and will not be published.
As you begin to write the letter, think about what you really want to say. What's the intent of the letter? As you write, keep your thoughts clear and to the point. It helps us and the reader better understand your message. Letters shouldn't be more than 500 words. We reserve the right to edit letters received. And please ensure that your letter does not contain any defamatory comments or statements.
Once you've finished writing and content with the finished product, letters can be submitted in various ways. They can be sent via email, to editor@thegeorgian.ca; posted c/o the Georgian, PO Box 283, Stephenville, NL, A2N 2Z4; faxed to 709-643-5041; or dropped off to our office during regular business hours - we're at the corner of Main and Grove, directly across from Domino Pizza House.
Both veteran and new writers welcome to submit letters. We look forward to hearing what you have to say.
