It was a chance to boast about their accomplishments and say thanks to all those who made it possible.
Members of the Stephenville Lions Club recently hosted a celebratory dinner to officially showcase their recently revamped facility on Woodland Street.
King Lion Erle Barrett said the renovations started about a year and a half ago. New windows, roof and siding spruced up the exterior; while new bathrooms, insulation, flooring, tables and wall paint brought the interior up-to-date.
"We've invested more than $200,000 to refurbish this building," said Mr. Barrett. "Today we have a building that we can take pride in."
He thanked the provincial government for the funds needed to undertake the upgrades.
Mr. Barrett also praised the Town of Stephenville and College of the North Atlantic in helping the organization launch a community market and garden.

Last year there were 22 plots in the shared garden, which grew to 34 this past summer. Mr. Barrett noted work has been done to further extend the gardens to 44 plots and there are plans to create raised beds for those with limited mobility.
Mayor Tom O'Brien was among those at the dinner and praised the Lions Club's efforts, noting the group has given greatly to the area over the years.
"You're committed to the community," said the mayor. "If you took out what you did for the community, it would not be the great community that it is today."
