RCMP arrest Nova Scotia man with firearm/weapon offences

The RCMP are reporting that on June 20, at approximately 9:30, the Channel Port Au Basques Detachment received a complaint from Marine Atlantic that an adult male, of Kings County, NS, was on board the MV Joseph and Clara Smallwood, with a number of firearms in his vehicle, and that he was traveling to Newfoundland to kill police officers in the Corner Brook area.

The RCMP are reporting that on June 20, at approximately 9:30, the Channel Port Au Basques Detachment received a complaint from Marine Atlantic that an adult male, of Kings County, NS, was on board the MV Joseph and Clara Smallwood, with a number of firearms in his vehicle, and that he was traveling to Newfoundland to kill police officers in the Corner Brook area.
In a release, police say they processed the information quickly then dispatched officers to locate and arrest this individual. RCMP members from Port Aux Basques and Stephenville, with the assistance of Police Dog Service located the vehicle once the ferry unloaded, and conducted a take down of the vehicle near St. George's on the Trans Canada Highway. The takedown was successful, and the subject was brought into custody without incident.
Inside the suspects vehicle were boxes of rifle ammunition, a high powered rifle, a cross bow, a bow, numerous arrows, and a machete. Mark Baltzer was arrested for breaching conditions of his undertaking for being out of the province of Nova Scotia, as well as numerous firearm and weapons offences.

He has been held for court on June 21. Police say the investigation is still ongoing, and further charges may be warranted, pending further investigation
