Western Health announced this morning the visitation ban has been lifted at the Bay St. George Long Term Care Centre and Emile Benoit House.
The ban had been put in place earlier this month due to an outbreak of stomach flu-like illness throughout the facility.
Western Health asks those who have had vomiting and diarrhea or other flu like symptoms to refrain from visiting any of of the health authority's facilities. They say individuals with any of these symptoms should rest at home, drink fluids, practice proper hand washing with hot water and soap, and if the symptoms persist contact their physician.
To prevent the spread of infection in any institution in the Western Health region, they ask the public to follow these simple steps: wash/ sanitize your hands when you enter or leave any of Western Health's facilities; there may be times when you are asked to follow special precautions or instructions where you visit i.e. wearing gloves, gowns, masks or washing hands.
