Tthe Bay St. George RCMP charged two youths and an adult male with numerous offences on June 10 - including aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, uttering threats, and several breaches of court orders - as a result of an alleged incident which occurred at approximately 1 a.m. on June 10 in Degrau.
The RCMP state the alleged incident began at a residence where a disturbance started between one youth and the adult male victim. The youth attacked the male victim with a knife and a second weapon.
Not long after the initial incident, while the male victim was walking home along the main road, the youth from the original incident, accompanied by another youth and an adult male approached him in a vehicle.
All three got out of the vehicle and attacked the victim. During this assault the RCMP say victim was attacked with various weapons including rocks, bike handlebars, and automobile booster cables.
The victim sustained lacerations to his head and forearm which required almost two dozen stitches, as well as injuries to his torso. He was transported to the hospital in Stephenville, where he was treated for his injuries. He was subsequently released and will be monitored at home due to his head injuries.
The suspects were arrested less than four hours after the incident. All three were brought before the court in Stephenville. They will be held in custody for the weekend.
The RCMP note this incident is not related to the matters previously dealt with in Sheaves Cove.
