On Friday, Western Health announced a visitation ban at the Bay St. George Long Term Care Centre and Emile Benoit House in Stephenville Crossing.
The ban is in place due to a confirmed outbreak of Norwalk, which is a stomach flu-like illness which may include vomiting and diarrhea.
Western Health asks for the publics co-operation during this temporary visitation ban and to refrain from visiting. Exceptions for visitation may be made on a case-by-case basis for immediate family members of the terminally ill. Please contact the facility directly for instructions on how to proceed.
People who have had vomiting and diarrhea or other flu like symptoms are asked to refrain from visiting any of Western Healths facilities. Individuals with any of these symptoms should rest at home, drink fluids, practice proper hand washing with hot water and soap, and if the symptoms persist contact their physician.
