In an effort to keep the town looking as attractive as possible, the Town of Stephenville's Beautification Committee is encouraging residents and groups to participate in this week's Community Clean-up and Stop the Littering Day.

Taking place May 26, groups and individuals are asked to meet at 6 p.m. in the parking lot of the WE Cormack Building, 35 Carolina Ave. From there, they will be assigned an area of the town to spruce up, with rubber gloves and garbage bags provided.

"The clean-up will be followed by a community camp fire social with complementary hot dogs and soft drinks," says Darlene Oake, committee member.

Ms. Oake says the clean-up will hopefully initiate and promote an enduring anti-littering campaign.

"The Beautification Committee would certainly encourage all individuals and groups to participate in clean-up of our town at any time throughout the year," she says, "and encourages individuals and groups to promote anti-littering and to help keep our town clean and beautiful."
