Santa and his elves were recently spotted at the opening of the Walk-A-Ways trail system near Kindale Library.

The trail is a project of the Walk-A-Ways committee, who plan to connect Kippens, Stephenville, Stephenville Crossing via the new system.

Bob Diamond is chair of the committee and says the group is pleased to finally have this first phase of the project complete.
"We've been working at this for a couple of years," he said.
"It's been in the planning stages, but this summer was the first summer we did any significant work on the trail system in Stephenville."
A Christmas-themed walk was held to commemorate the trail's opening and attendees were treated to a meeting with Santa and his elves, as well as healthy snacks provided by the local wellness coalition and provincial Department of Health.
"We had over 50 people show up," says Mr. Diamond. "It was just a wonderful family event."
The Stephenville section of trail is about 12 km in length.
