A local womens dart team are hitting the road to represent this region at the Provincial Ladies Dart Championships in Port aux Basques. Martina Swyers, Anna Brake, Jackie King, Marilyn Lucas and Debbie Walsh, who all throw out of the 50s Plus Club in Stephenville Crossing, and Margretta Lafitte, who they picked up from Stephenville, will represent this area in the B Division.

They earned the right to attend the provincial event by first winning the Bay St. George play-downs and then the Western Region play-downs. They beat Flat Bay in the final of the Bay St. George tournament on March 11 and then knocked off Southwestern four games straight in the best-of-seven Western Region final in Port aux Basques on April 22.

It will be a busy five days of darts for the host town, with the provincials running from May 16-20, because along with crowning a provincial winner in Division B this event will determine winners from both the A and C Divisions as well. Martina Swyers feels like her team has a good chance to win their division and hopes to be right in the mix on Sunday.
